Reserves reach the Semi Finals

Posted: February 28th, 2012 by Andreas

Hook Norton Reserves 2 – Penn & Tylers Green Reserves 3

This was an excellent team performance on Tuesday night on a heavy sticky pitch by Penn & Tylers Green Reserves. The boys started brightly and took the lead via a penalty which Michael Benning scored. Penn & Tylers Green Reserves kept pressing and some good play ended up with a good passing move from which Tim Barber made it two nil. Continue reading…

Chairman Delighted with U13’s B&B Achievements

Posted: February 28th, 2012 by Andreas

Chairman Tony Hurst commented:

“I was absolutely delighted and proud to be Penn & Tylers Green FC chairman when I heard the news of the U13’s amazing achievement of reaching the B&B County Cup Final by defeating the current holders Abingdon Town 2-1 after extra time at Abingdon Town’s ground on Sunday 26th February.

A delighted Chairman

Both teams were undefeated this season so something had to give and it came out on our side which is marvellous. Steve Sanders, Ian Lancaster, the staff and the team now have the chance to join that elite group of managers and teams who have lifted the B&B Cup for Penn & Tylers Green FC, namely, Terry Keating in 1998,Tim Vincent in 2005 and Pete Hasyn in 2006 (apologies if dates are slightly out!).

The B&B Cup is the ultimate Cup to win as it involves every team throughout Berkshire and Buckinghamshire, at each particular age group. I said at the AGM last June that I would “throw down the challenge” to all Managers right through the club from Senior to Juniors to bring back a B&B Cup, and now Steve, Ian and their team have the opportunity to do that and I hope the WHOLE CLUB goes to the final on March 18th to support them if they can. Under 13s in County Cup Final

Posted: February 27th, 2012 by Andreas

The boys are a credit to Penn & Tylers Green FC

After last week’s sluggish performance against Downley Dynamos, a game we were lucky to win, I’m sure a few of us were a bit nervous when we arrived at Abingdon Town for our County Cup Semi-Final.

Under 13s Team

After a slow start for the first five minutes, the boys soon got into their stride, and pressed the ball at every opportunity, winning almost every 50:50 ball. The defence stayed strong and the midfield dominated play, with the ball hardly coming into our half in the first 30 minutes. But despite all the pressure, Abingdon’s defence was strong, and we could only resort to half chances, most taken from the edge of the penalty area. Then with only minutes to half time, Abingdon caught us on the break and we were lucky when an alert Oliver White saved a shot close to his left hand post.

The second half was not as easy as the first. Abingdon were much stronger, won more of the 50:50’s and started troubling the defence much more. Then with 20 minutes to go, and arguably against the run of play, Abingdon scored with a shot/cross which sailed over the defence and an outstretched keeper, into the top of the net. Woeful Display at French School Meadows

Penn & Tylers Green FC versus Chinnor FC 0:3

This was one of those days. No excuses, no bad luck, no sun in the eyes, no strong wind and no match officials to blame. Today the performance of the first team was just non-existent.

No way through

We all hoped after last week’s loss at Chalfont Wasps we would see a positive reaction. Nope, quit the opposite. Continue reading…

Under 9s in top form

Last Sunday Penn & Tylers Green FC U9′s travelled to Aylesbury to play Bedgrove Dynamos in the South Bucks Mini Soccer Cup Tournament Quarter Finals and won all four games: 3-0, 5-0, 6-0 & 5-2 taking them on to the semi-final to be played in March. This is the only competitive tournament the boys have ever played in and have so far improved with every round.

They have all taken on board the hard work they put into training and are really looking forward to the semi-final. All the coaches were proud of their efforts and teamwork. Everyone here at the club wish them luck in the Semi Final.

If there are any children at U9s who want to come along to the training sessions please get in touch. The contact details can be found in the Club Contact Section of our website.

Stung by Wasps

Chalfont Wasps 3 – Penn & Tylers Green FC 0

Penn & Tylers Green FC decided not to defend in the first 15 minutes. This ultimately cost us the game. Poor marking and indecisive goalkeeping from a free kick after a good cross gave Chalfont Wasps a free header and we were one nil down. The boys responded well by playing good football and good ball sent Owen Hunte-Millington through but he scuffs his shot across goal.

Action in the Chilterns

A good through ball sent their striker clean through and a great finish into the bottom left corner made it two nil to the home side after eight minutes. This effectively decided the game. However, we have to give credit to the boys they kept plugging away.

The Big Freeze Continues

Frozen and Snow Covered Pitches

The Big Freeze

The local derby at  home in the league for our Reserves against Chalfont Wasps and the league match for our A-Team away against Wycombe Community as well as our First Team away fixture at Highmoor IBIS have all fallen victim to the elements again. Frozen and snow covered pitches are to blame.

The Hellenic League has again called off the entire programme for tomorrow, 11th February 2012. The Youth Team did not have a fixture this weekend.
